XEDC specializes in entrepreneurship training and business development. We have a number of training modules aimed at helping people consider their future in the area of running a business or simply employing themselves. Many students from all faculties will use their education in a business setting of some sort. We can work with faculty to plan out short in-class sessions or extra-curricular activities that will make a difference in students’ lives.

 

Our annual business competition has become a great success with last year’s entrance into the Nicol Competition in conjunction with the Gerald Schwartz School of Business. The competition is open to all disciplines and has great cash prizes – definitely a benefit to students. Between ourselves and the School of Business, we offer all the support that is needed for a winning entry. Make sure to tell your students!

 

In a number of courses at StFX, students are required to work on projects with a community-based sponsor organization, be that a business or a non-profit/community initiative. XEDC works closely with many businesses in the area and works with a number of service organizations. We might be able to help match your students with someone who can use their knowledge.

 

XEDC works with StFX’s Industry Liaison Office to support faculty efforts in applied research projects and commercializing research findings. Our efforts aim to make use of our knowledge of the business world. We have expertise in the areas of market research/validation, business planning and feasibility studies. Our Centre can also add an important business sense to presentations or agreements which sometimes require a difference focus when the audience is not within academia.

 

XEDC is out in the front lines of business development. We sometimes run into consulting opportunities where we need highly skilled individuals with expertise in a variety of areas. Historically, we have always made these linkages as the needs arose. If you are interested in consulting opportunities within some business-related discipline, certainly let us know to ensure we find you when the time comes.
